We welcome you to an hour and a half adventure of the tour of the archaeological sites of Moray and Maras. The archaeological remains of Moray consist of stone farming terraces formed in concentric circles, built around three gigantic holes, all at different levels. The largest of these contains 12 circular levels, to a depth of 100 meters. At the base of each hole is a system of drains to prevent the accumulation of rainwater. Experts say the site was a center for agricultural experimentation and the production of seeds from diverse climates, made possible by the different atmospheric conditions found on each terrace. Maras on the other hand contains unusual Inca ruins, mostly consisting of several enormous terraced circular depressions, the largest of which is about 30 m (98 ft) deep. The purpose of these depressions is uncertain, but their depth and orientation with respect to wind and sun creates a temperature difference of as much as 15 °C (27 °F) between the top and bottom. This large temperature difference was possibly used by the Inca to study the effects of different climatic conditions on crops. In other words, Moray was perhaps an Inca agricultural experiment station. As with many other Inca sites; it also has a sophisticated irrigation system.
This is an interesting educational tour where your guide will give you interesting facts about the advanced Inca agriculture.
After the tour you will return to your hotel to relax after the day´s excitement.
